Hi Helena,
I’m Jillian. After reading your sad story, I sympathize with you. Your story reminds me of my old friend - Minh, she was a repeater at her 6th grade. Although she was older than me, we were classmates and best friends. Minh overcame the shame of her class repeating. And I believe that you’ll do the same as Minh, you will gain your back confidence and get out of your dark corner.
I think I can understand your feelings because sometimes I feel bad about myself and wonder why I can’t do it better. I used to be stressed, ashamed of my low scores in mathematics, physics and and physical training. However. I had better scores in these subjects in the past three months. My secret was I did not let the stress turn my head into a mess.
Whenever I was stressful, I would have a conversation with myself: “Jillian, everything will be okay. Do your best and you will be the champion!”. My other solution to avoid unnecessary pressure ahead of an oral exam was listening to my favorite songs.
As you know, being a daughter also means you have to deal with a lot of pressure when your mom becomes so over-protective.
In my opinion, you should confide in your mom about your feeling, because it’s the best way to shorten the emotional distance between you and your mom.
To sum up, I hope you will look on the brighter side and you will be stronger and smarter. Please only care about things that matter.
“Don’t let your value change with society, instead let your values change society!”
Be brave, Helena!
Jillian
